Stories in the Air

The BSL Dictionary is a virtual guide to British Sign Language for young children, their parents, teachers and carers. The BSL Dictionary contains 220 signs in 20 categories. The sign language animation and software were produced by Dunedin Multimedia in association with Stories in the Air.

The BSL Dictionary CD-ROMs and web resource were funded through two editions by the Scottish Executive. From 2003 to 2006, Stories in the Air gave over 10,000 free copies of the CD-ROM to schools and families with deaf children across the UK. The BSL Dictionary was later bundled with the BSL Numeracy 3 CD-ROM.

Due to regional variations within BSL, the signs for numbers and colours used in your area may be different from those shown on the CD-ROM. Ask your BSL tutor for more information.

The 4th edition of the BSL Dictionary is included in the BSL Starter Pack.
